A Message from our principal

Hello Sacajawea families,

We had our first fire drill of the year on Wednesday October 5th with our special guests, the Seattle Fire Department. The fire department and I both observed staff and students doing an amazing job of exiting the building quickly, calmly and safely. Next up, we will participate in the Great Shake Out and drop, cover, and hold for an earthquake drill on October 19. A big thanks to our staff safety committee for helping to keep everyone healthy and safe here at Sacajawea!

In partnership,

Barry Fisk

PTA Updates

Volunteering Requests

Volunteers Make Things Happen at Sacajawea. We Need You! So many wonderful things happen at our school because of our dedicated group of parents, grandparents and community members. We have various PTA committees, school needs and event help to fit any schedule. Detailed descriptions are on our PTA volunteering page.

  1. Equity Team Members – Do you share our goal of creating an actively anti-racist school community where everyone is respected and welcomed?  Are you interested in working with school and PTA leaders to promote racial equity at Sacajawea?  Our Parent Racial Equity Team is looking for members to participate in monthly meetings and focus on bringing an equity perspective to Sacajawea events, activities and learning.
  2. Packs for Kids – Our Packs program supports families who could use some extra help with food over the weekends and breaks.  We’d love to add a few more team members to organize grocery bags in the school cafeteria on Friday mornings from 9:45 – 10:45 am, to be able to alternate weeks and have flexibility in schedules.
  3. Lunch and Recess Support – A fun glimpse into the daily life of your student! Help with lunchroom and playground supervision 11 a.m. – 12:05 p.m. Once a week, once a month or whenever you are able.

Please note: on-campus volunteers and field trip chaperones will need a background check. Apply or update your volunteer profile on the SPS Volunteering page.
