FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
Hello Sacajawea families,
Wednesday was a busy and productive day here at Sacajawea. The all-school assembly featured a stirring performance of We Shall Overcome by our 4th and 5th grade students, accompanied by Ms. Toledo on the piano. We also heard from our student Recess Crew about taking care of our new playground equipment.
Students taught us more about the principles of Black Lives Matter at school. Thank you to all the families who were able to join us. We hope to see even more of you at our next assembly.
After school, I joined fourteen staff members in updating our First Aid and CPR credentials.
Remember, there is no school next week. I hope you all have a great mid-winter break. ๐
In partnership,
Barry Fisk (he/him)
Principal Sacajawea Elementary

School Updates
Girls on the Run
March 25th to May 22nd
Girls on the Run (GOTR) is returning to Sacajawea for the spring season! Students in grades 3โ5 are encouraged to join.
GOTR is a youth-empowerment organization that inspires participants to be joyful, healthy, and confident through evidence-based lessons that combine relationship building, community strengthening, goal setting, and physical movement. No prior running or sports experience is necessary. GOTR welcomes children who identify as girls, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming.
The spring season runs from March 25 to May 22. Practices are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. on Sacajawea school grounds (except during spring break). The season culminates in a 5K on the morning of Sunday, May 18, when teams from across Puget Sound come together for a run, with each team member joined by a personal running buddy (parent or another adult). Itโs an incredible celebration!
Scholarships are available! Email program@girlsrun.org before registering to receive a scholarship code.

Jump Roping with Ms. Susie
A note from our P.E. Teacher
Hi Families!
If your kids have some extra time over break, they could practice their jump rope skills.
Here is a link to a video that demonstrates all the tricks our 2nd- through 5th-grade students are working on in the gym this year. I bet some of our kindergarten and first-grade students are ready to try some tricks too.
The video features a PE teacher from the East Coast who shares really great resources. I encourage you to try the tricks as well! One day, I hope to master the โdouble under.โ
Happy jumping,
Ms. Susie
smbunker@seattleschools.org P.S. โ Let me know if your kids need a jump rope at home, and I can send one with them for the break.
