Note from Principal Fisk:

Hello Sacajawea Families,

We invite you to join us for a community meeting tonight to discuss the potential closure and consolidation of Sacajawea Elementary with John Rogers Elementary, as included in the superintendent’s preliminary recommendation for rightsizing and stabilizing our school district.

This meeting is an opportunity to learn more about the recommendation, ask questions, and share ideas about how we might approach this potential change with care and support for our community.

Meeting Details:

• Date & Time: Today, Thursday, November 7, 6:00–7:00 p.m.
• Location: Sacajawea Elementary Cafeteria
• Who’s Attending: Superintendent Dr. Brent Jones, Dr. Marni Campbell, and Dr. Mike McCarthy
• Childcare: Available for up to 30 children, provided by the Boys and Girls Club
• Interpreters: Spanish and Amharic translation services available

Please note that this meeting is specifically for Sacajawea families to address questions and concerns unique to our school community rather than a public hearing. Additional engagement opportunities for the broader community will follow after a 30-day public review period.

Key Items This Week

• Tonight, Sac community meeting regarding closures. Join Superintendent Jones and other SPS leadership at 6pm in the cafeteria to address questions and concerns regarding the proposed closures and their effects on our community. More details below regarding childcare and interpretation.
• PTA Membership Meeting, Nov 13th @ 7pm. Our November PTA meeting is a full membership meeting, and the agenda includes: school consolidations, the WAPTSA assembly, and a vote to update our standing rules.
• Family Meetup at Victory Heights, Nov. 9th. The Equity Team is hosting a family gathering at Victory Heights Playground at 2pm. There will be light snacks and good fun! The goal is to bring our kids together to play and to build community.
• Help us complete the Sac Directory for 2024-2025. Each year, our PTA compiles a paper directory of contact information for our parents and families. If you submitted your details when you joined the PTA, you’re good to go. If you haven’t joined the PTA or want to share your information, please fill out this year’s directory form.
• Sacajawea t-shirts on sale through Nov. 8th. We have boo-tiful new Sac t-shirts and hoodies for sale. The spooky-good design by Sac parent Chad Pfarr features the intricate patterns and tapestries found throughout South America, which is our continental focus for this year. Scholarships are available, too. Details and ordering on SacPTA.org.
• New to Sacajawea this year? Unearth all the latest news by subscribing to our PTA email list and joining our Facebook group. Stay in the spirit and keep up with every fang-tastic event happening around school. Don’t let updates creep by like ghouls in the night.
• Clothing donations needed. We’re conjuring up a call for clothing donations! We’re specifically looking for leggings or sweatpants (for both boys and girls), as well as socks and underwear in all sizes. Donations can be sent in with your kids or dropped off at the front office. Thank you!
