- Date change: Walk and Roll to School Day is Oct. 16th. Join us for a fun and active morning. Students are encouraged to walk, bike, skate, or roll to school on October 16th. Head to the upper playground, where we’ll have snacks and safety swag ready to hand out.
- Parent helpers needed for lunch/recess support. Ever wonder what magic happens at lunch? Come find out! We could use your help from 11am to 12:05pm, be it once a week, once a month, or whenever you can. Our biggest need is on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Contact Charlene Shanahan (cyshanahan@seattleschools.org) for more details.
- Ms. Susie needs pictures of your active kids and families. Our P.E. teacher, Ms. Susie, would love to inspire motion and energy on her P.E. bulletin board in the gym. See her note below on how you can help.
- Sacajawea Family Meet-up on September 28th at 2pm. The Equity Team is hosting a family meet-up at Maple Leaf Park Playground. There will be light refreshments and lots of fun! The goal is to bring our kids together to play and to connect as a community!
- Join our PTA to support our school. Even if you joined last year, you need to renew to maintain your membership in our PTA. Joining the PTA supports our advocacy efforts locally, statewide, and nationally! Will you join us? It’s easy to join online.
- We have many volunteer opportunities for 2024-25. Needs include: Packs for Kids, lunch support, yearbook, PTA (grants, newsletter, fundraising, and Equity Team). Detailed descriptions are on our PTA volunteering page.
School Updates
Curriculum Night
Thursday. Sept. 26th at 6:30pm
Our pre-K, kindergarten, first grade, and 2nd/3rd-split teachers will present in their classrooms from 6:30 to 6:45pm. Following that, we’ll have a short interlude in the cafeteria for a round of teacher introductions. Then, from 7:00 to 7:15pm, our distinct, third grade, and 4th/5th split teachers will follow with their classroom presentations.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Welcome from Ms. Susie
Our P.E. teacher needs your help
Hello Families,
We are off to a great start in Sacajawea PE! Students have been learning and revisiting routines in the gym. Second through 5th-grade students have been dusting off their four-square skills and ramping up to playing kickball. Focusing on playground games early in the year helps ensure everyone knows the rules and how to play out at recess. Our younger students have been learning how to keep everyone safe when we play tag and some other gym favorites and are also practicing the skills needed for kickball.
For those I haven’t met yet, I live in Northeast Seattle with my family and love getting outside. Walking, biking, swimming, and picking blackberries are a few of my favorite ways to spend time in the summer.
As we all settle into the school year, I’d love it if you wanted to share a photo of your kids and/or families participating in your favorite outdoor activities that we can add to our PE bulletin board. Pictures of your summer fun (or fall sports) could inspire someone else to try something new or make a connection.
Just send me the digital photo, and I’ll print it.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions for me.
Best,
Susie Bunker
