Hello Sacajawea families,

The new school year is off to a wonderful start. With the arrival of our Pre-K and Kindergarten students, we are now officially off and running. I attended the first PTA meeting on Tuesday and was glad to see the great turnout. We held our first assembly on Wednesday morning, and all our students showed us what it means to SHINE.

We are pleased to announce that our curriculum night will be held on September 26th from 6:30 pm to 7:15 pm. This evening is a good opportunity to meet with your children’s teachers, to learn all about the curriculum we teach and what a typical school day looks like at each grade level, and to meet and greet our newest staff members. Look for more information in the next week’s newsletter.

In partnership,

Barry Fisk
Principal

Key Items This Week

  • Walk and Roll to School Day is Oct. 9th. Join us for a fun and active morning as we celebrate Walk and Roll to School Day! Students are encouraged to walk, bike, skate, or roll to school on October 9th. Head to the upper playground, where we’ll have snacks and safety swag ready to hand out.
  • Join the PTA to support Sacajawea. Did you know PTA is the largest volunteer child advocacy group in the country? Joining the PTA supports these advocacy efforts locally, statewide, and nationally! Will you join us? It’s easy to join online.
  • Kingfisher stairs are fully repaired. Thank you to those who advocated for the quick work to return the walking route from Victory Heights to school. DOT will conduct monthly inspections this winter to ensure this route remains safe for our students and the community.
  • We have many volunteer opportunities for 2024-25. Needs include: Packs for Kids, lunch support, yearbook, PTA (grants, newsletter, fundraising, and Equity Team). Detailed descriptions are on our PTA volunteering page.
  • CANSSPA meeting, Sept. 17th, 7pm. Interested in advocating for equitable resource distribution and building community with other SPS families? Join the first Central And North Seattle Schools PTA Alliance meeting of the year. Email Sac parent Megan Callow at ellipsis914@gmail.com for the Zoom link or to join their email list.
