At Sacajawea Elementary, there is a rich commitment to arts and culture.  Our Arts and Culture Committee is made up of parents and staff members who organize learning opportunities for the student community which support growth in these areas.

A six-year cycle of a yearly continental focus provides a theme which helps integrate these different programs and school wide-events into various curricula throughout the school year.  The intention of this cultural focus is to promote cultural understanding, celebrate diversity and prepare our students for participation in the global family.

The Geographic Focus for the 2016 - 2017 school year is Africa.

Parent Art Docents Needed For Classrooms

    Dear Sacajawea Families,

Our wonderful Arts and Culture focus is building momentum for the year!  A key element is the art docent program.  We need a parent volunteer for each classroom who would be willing to prepare and present an art project.   The instructions for the projects will be given to you.  All you need to do is carry them out.  No art background is needed.  The teacher in the classroom will support you with classroom management and offer guidance.  We also have parents in the building who have experience that would be happy speak with you.

Please email Web Peirce if you have an interest and want to know more!  With your help, this will be a great year for the arts at Sacajawea!

    Thank you!
