    A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

    Dear Sacajawea Families,

Today at our staff meeting the Sacajawea Staff and I spent a little time reminding ourselves and each other of why we do this work.  It was uplifting to remember that we do this because we love children and we want to see every child succeed in life. We expressed this thought in many different ways, but that is what it boils down to.   We care about every child and family that is part of our community and for children and families around the world.

In this time of change, we are still focused on our mission to teach every student with kindness, equity and empathy, and our vision of educational justice for all.  No matter who our leaders are, or what is happening in the world around us, or sometimes because of what is happening in the world around us, we will maintain our focus. Each member of this community has a part in helping our children to be ready for learning today and prepared for whatever may come in the future.

If you, your child or your family needs support during this time, please don’t hesitate to reach out.  We have resources available through our weekend food program (contact Charlene Shanahan: cyshanahan@seattleschools.org) , our school counselor (Contact Ximena Grollmus: ixgrollmus@seattleschools.org), our staff and me (rlfriesen@seattleschools.org).

What I do matters, what you do matters.  We are strongest when we work together.

    In Partnership,

    Rachel Friesen, Principal
