    Dear Sacajawea Families,

Welcome back to our new school year!  The teachers and I are excited to see First through Fifth Grade students online for our first day of school tomorrow. Kindergarteners and Preschoolers we will see you on Tuesday, September 8th. We are distributing laptops to third, fourth, and fifth-grade students at Sacajawea between 3:30 and 6:30 this evening and are looking forward to seeing many of you there! We know that not every Preschool through second grade student has a device. I learned today that district iPads for our younger students will be here for us to distribute next Thursday, September 10th.  If your PreK-2 child doesn’t have a way to access their class team meetings tomorrow, they can do the asynchronous activities listed on your teacher’s Schoology site.  Please also reach out to your child’s teacher or me to let us know about your situation.

We know how important strong relationships and connections are to student success.  To ensure these connections are made and students are feeling comfortable and ready to begin school in this remote learning environment, from Sept. 4th-11th we will be focusing the majority of our time on creating welcoming virtual classrooms, setting norms and routines for our scholars, sharing experiences, and working to make sure everyone has what they need for a great year.

For the first week of school, two hours each day will be dedicated to live online student learning and the remainder of the school day will include independent and supplemental learning activities for each day of the first week. These activities will take place offline and will be completed independently by students.

Materials and iPads Distribution Thursday, September 10th

On Thursday, September 10th, we’ll have our first distribution day.  We are planning to do this twice a month to allow for students to pick up and return learning materials and library books.  On this day, younger students will be able to get their iPads and all students will get learning materials and books. If you are unable to get come during the pick-up time designated for your grade level, you are welcome to come in any other time slot or let your teacher know if you can’t come at all that day.  We can also offer delivery to those who need it.  Please just ask through your child’s teacher
