Happy New School Year! Many of you I have known from previous years and want to welcome you back as well as introduce myself to our new famnities. Tam the Resource Room teacher here at Sacajawea. I am so excited to be part of your child's educational journey. I am the 1 EP case manager this school year for your child. Ms. Kayli McKinney, our ACCESS teacher, will also be providing social skills instruction for some of our students who benefit from that area of specially designed instruction. Ms. McKinney and I will collaborate in delivering our special education services at Sacajawea. If your child receives Speech and Language services on their IEP, we are very grateful to have Ms. Melanie Durand return as the SLP providing this therapy. We are also thrilled to have Ms. Chinatsu Cook, our Occupational Therapist (OT), back and she will be supporting fine motor and sensory needs. In addition, we feel very fortunate to have three fantastic Instructional Assistants supporting students: Ms. Shelley Pierson, Ms. Kathy Fox and Ms. Kristen Baum!

We are also happy to let you know that we have some fantastic new and returning volunteers. Ms. Beth Tibbetts is helping in the resource room on Tuesdays. Beth was an Instructional Assistant at Sacajawea for years. Mrs. Diana Staaf, who also was a beloved staff member, will be helping occasionally. Ms. Melissa Iszard, Teacher Candidate at City University of Seattle, will also be returning in the Fall to complete some of her final certification requirements.

We will be supporting children in their homeroom classrooms by providing both pull-out specially

designed instruction and in-class accommodations based on their IEPs. We hold annual IEP meetings and provide progress updates on goals at the trimester reporting period. We are happy to meet with you to discuss your child's progress at any time throughout the year.

I am very excited to be starting my 21st year at Sacajawea! I love living in the neighborhood and getting to see my students grow up. I also have three children, who successfully attended Seattle Public Schools, as well as a husband and two busy standard poodle dogs
