    Dear Sacajawea Families,

We are rapidly approaching the first days of school. Sacajawea staff and I are excitedly preparing to welcome every student to remote learning beginning with our Strong Start days from Friday, September 4th through Friday, September 11th. (kindergarten and Preschool will have their first day on Tuesday, September 8th.)

Today, I am happy to announce that the Laptops for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th Graders have been prepared and are ready to be distributed.  The iPads for Kindergarten through second grade have not yet arrived.  When they do, we will have a distribution time for those devices.

Here is how the distribution will work:

On Thursday, September 3rd, from 3:30 PM – 6:30 PM Mr. Harvey and I will have the laptops out on the upper playground.

    • Each family of 3rd through 5th grade students can drive or walk up to pick up their laptop(s).
    • There will be line markers to help us maintain 6 feet of distance for our health and safety.
    • Please make sure everyone in your group is wearing a mask.
    • At the first station, each child will receive a Laptop Use Agreement that needs to be signed.
    • At the second station, the laptop will be checked out to each student using our library checkout system, and you will receive information about the laptops and how to get technical help.

    Q&A:

1 - What if I am not able to come to Sacajawea to pick up my child’s laptop between 3:30 and 6:30 on Thursday? Please email Rachel Friesen rlfriesen@seattleschools.org to make alternative arrangements. If you need your Child’s laptop to be delivered, please note that in your email.

2 - What if I have my own device, and prefer not to use the district devices? This is also allowed.  Please email Rachel Friesen rlfriesen@seattleschools.org to indicate this.

3 - If my child received an Amazon Chromebook this Spring, should they still get a district laptop?  Yes, the Chromebooks were a donation from Amazon, and are now your personal property.  The district laptops are provided for the school year for your student to use for learning.

Stay tuned for information about the first days of school, and the iPads and materials distribution plan.

Looking forward to a great year!

    Rachel
